If you are talking about the third brake light... All i had to do was to take a small flat screwdrive and pry out the round plastic pin on the side of the housing. You will see a round pin on the side you have to pry out the small pin in the middle of the big circle. Then you can pull out the bigger pin. To put back insert the big pin then push the small pin back in.
No idea what the above answer is refering to. I have a 2005 sportage and one of the LEDs in the light blew. The problem is the unit is not sealed or waterproof and the gasket round it is inadequet. It's a fault in manufacturing but you try getting Kia to accept it.
Anyway to replace the centre light, undo the three plastic nuts at the top of the tailgate, be careful no to round them, push the threaded bolts gently from behind, there is a white plastic joining clip connecting the light to the electrical system, squeeze this to release the catch holding them together and pull part. Then do the reverse to fit the new one. I coated the edge of mine with a good blob of silicone sealant, the stuff you get for bathrooms, before fitting it to stop water getting in again.
You can't change the LED as the red unit is glued together.
