I am no ASE service tech, but do read and worked on my cars and others during college to pay for education.

The wheel sensoe is part of the wheel housing and is called the wheel hu. This housing has the wheel bearing/abs sensor and connector as one unit that is changed as a whole unit. This can be found on ebay for $35 and no shipping. I have a 03 and it is great and I work on it myself.

Now for the change out, car needs to be jacked and supported as you would when changing the tire. Make sure you support it with jack stands or the like for safety, as the wheel has to come off. Next with the wheel off, look on the back side of where the wheel studs are and you can see or feel 3 bolts holding this housing on to the strut assembly. This what holds the assembly on the strut and please note that the axle nut has to come off so that this assembly can slide off the axle end.

Install in the reverse and a helpful note, purchase a Haynes repair book and review it before attempting this task and to give you an idea of how it works.

Good luck

How do you change the speed sensor in a 2000 Ford F-150?

There is more than one speed sensor. There is one in the top of the differential housing. If you have a 4R70W transmission, there is a speed sensor in the side of it, and if you have a 4R100 transmission there are two speed sensors in it. If you have 4 wheel ant-lock brakes, there is a speed sensor in each front wheel hub. So there could be as many as 5 speed sensors. Which speed sensor are we replacing?
