Good News, first, do not read the Cub Cadet Owners Manual, that is, it only talks about the one side. Here we go. get yourself a 5 foot length of rope " i am a Navy Rope person" Now you need two( 2 ) 1 1/8 in half inch drive sockets. breaker bar and a ten or twelve inch ratchet handel. The one socket and breaker bar will be used under the blade to remove the 1 1/8 inch blade nut. the other will be used to hold the top of the spindel (nut).(note: the spindel comes as a solid piece with a nut FIXED to one end and the NUT end has a hole in it to place the grease fitting , the hole goes part way thru the center of the SPINDEL to get grease down. oh, you need to remove the guard. now , secure the one end of the rope to a sturdy section of the mower on the opposite side that you are removing. and secure the ratchet handel from moving ( when you are loosening the blade nut) with the rope ( you will need to re attach the rope to the other side of the mower to do the other blade ) Now, put the breaker bar with the socket attached on the Blade nut and pull to the left or CCW or in the direction that the blade moves when cutting. i wasted almost 2 days fighting this project using the BLOCK METHOD and said GO purchase a Nut and Spindel for the unit $8.00, this way i had NO DOUBT that it was a right hand thread. : ) Dont forget to remove string etc that is wrapped under the nut that is between the blade and the spindel and then RE GREASE when you have replaced the blade. the only thing that i need to do, is buy a torque wrench and check for the correct foot pounds. Using this method was a walk in the park. i did not need a CHEATER for the breaker bar.
