First, locate and remove the fuel pump fuse. Then, start the car and let it run until it stalls. This is to relieve the fuel pressure and prevent fuel spray when the fittings are disconnected. Then, open the trunk and pull back the liner to expose the access door. Remove the screws, pry off the access panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors, then the quick-disconnect fuel line fittings. There is then a hold-down ring that must be removed by rotating it counter-clockwise. It will usually have to be gently hammered to release the locking tabs. I found success using a socket extension placing it at the tabs and hammering it. If you have one, use a brass hammer to reduce the possibility of impact sparks, which would be a very bad thing working around fuel! If you don\'t have a brass hammer, use a regular one with Duct Tape wrapped over the head. Loosen and remove the ring, and carefully lift the pump out of the tank. The float will likely be at an angle, so you will have to tilt the pump slightly as you lift it. It would be a good idea to place some rags around the opening before you lift the pump to catch fuel that might spill during this process. There is a rubber gasket around the flange of the pump that needs to come off with the pump, make sure it is replaced when installing the new one. Reverse the removal process for installation, reinstall the fuse, crank the car and check for leaks before re-attaching the access door and closing the trunk.
