If you're changing a mechanical fuel pump, you start by unhooking the battery. Then put the new pump next to the old one. Transfer both hoses from the old pump to the new one. Unbolt the old pump (13mm wrench) and remove it. Drain the gas into your lawn mower gas can or something. Put the new pump where the old once was and bolt it in. If you're changing to an electric pump, that's a story for another day.
