how can I cheek the heater fan on my 1990 geo metro to see if it is bad or if the switch is bad. I want come on at all when you turn the switch on check fuses and they are good.
Odds are you need a fan switch, It is very common for the high on GM fan switches to go out.
Run a new ignition switch controlled "hot" wire directly to fan motor
Not knowing what year, make and model you have, I would suspect the heater fan switch and or electrical plug to the switch is at fault.
The heater fan relay switch can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The relay switch will be on the passenger side of the firewall.

The reason a heater fan is staying on may be an issue with the switch. It is possible the switch is stuck open. It may be resolved with a good cleaning of the contacts on the switch, or replacing the switch itself.

The fan does not have a switch - the thermostat switch runs the fan.
