Like 99+% of vehicles with the engine in the front, heater hoses pass through / connect at the 'firewall' from the inside to the engine compartment. On the Windstar, the best way to get clear access to these hoses is to pull the cowl panels off that are below the windshield.Sounds complicated, but I've done lots of work on the backside of my 2001 and have the scratches & scars to prove it. I took my cowl off when doing plugs & wires last week and what a JOY! There is so much room to get around, it was like working on a 1960's vintage car.See "Related Questions" below for instructions to removing the cowl panels (essentially the same as pulling the wiper motor)With the cowl off, it will be easy to get at the heater hoses - and this might be a great time to backflush the heater corewhile you're there.
