YES! If you first press the SHIFT KEY, and then (while continuing to hold down the SHIFT KEY) drag the site icon to any folder (including to the desktop), the shortcut that is produced will have a .URL [internet shortcut] extension, rather than a .WEBSITE [pinned website] extension.
