You have to drill the guts out of the ignition lock cylinder to remove the lock cylinder.A new lock cylinder will come with 2 keys. The original ignition switch itself is probably okay and reusable.
Never done it on any of the GMT400 platform vehicles, but you typically take the covers off of the steering column, locate the ignition switch housing, remove it, then there's usually some point in the housing where you insert a pick and work it to release the key tumbler from the housing. Most of what I've worked on hasn't required a key to be inserted... if this one does, you should get new keys with the replacement tumbler (assuming they matched the key to the VIN number on the build sheet, it should be the same key, although that model year, GM trucks and vans used separate keys for the doors and ignition, so they might have sent whatever).
