How do you change license plate light on 2002 mercury villager. Unscrewing the Phillips screws does not work...the screws only spin in place rather than come out. They appear to have a nut attached?

If the fasteners are stripped or rusted in place you'll have to try drilling them out and replacing them. This may require access from the other side.
