You need a 3/16ths hex bit to loosen the oil plug in the bottom of the filter. When you remove this, oil will start flowing out of the filter, so have something to catch it. Then, use a oil filter wrench to turn the black rubber surround until it comes off. More gross oil. When it's out, you can take off the cylindrical paper filter inside and replace it. This is known as a cartridge type, so make sure to ask for it when you go to the parts store.
