Two points of interest:
One, it's done from the top, not underneath. Two, the filter consists of just the filter element itself, which goes inside the filter housing unit. It's not the can type filter you may be familiar with from other cars. It's basically what's inside those cans--the "can" (the filter housing) is part of and stays on the car.
The filter unit is located topside, in back near the firewall, a bit right of center (meaning to the driver's side on a US left hand drive model), and a bit down but not too far. Look for a black cylinder with a hexagonal cap, maybe 3-4" in diameter. To open it you will need a tool you get at the auto parts store. It's just a big hex cap thing you can use with your socket wrench. Not expensive and don't try doing this without it as anything else (pipe wrench or something) stands a good chance of ruining the filter housing which is plastic.
Anyway you unscrew the cap and it comes off with the filter element. Put some rags around first and have something you can drop it into so you don't get oil all over anything. You will see how it goes. Put the new element on the cap and screw it back down. Before you do so replace the rubber O ring on the cap with the new one that should have come with the new filter element. Tighten but be very careful to use only moderate force because the filter housing is plastic!
The filter package should also have contained a copper washer and this is used with the oil drain plug assuming you're doing an oil change along with the filter change. Getting to the underside requires removing that big plastic cover under the engine compartment but that's no big deal; just take off the screws and it comes off.
You drain the fluid first, and then replace the filter and put new fluid back in.
