The boot just snaps in with a clip, reach into it on the back side and pull up. It should just pop right off; the same is true for the plate it sits on. I changed mine out last week in about 5 minutes.

Pull out the side orange reflectors on the back corner. Unscrew the two screws and then the screw on the top that is located when opening the boot. Then u can pull the light out
The Toyota MR2 factory recommendations say to change the belt at 90,000 miles. If the belt runs past its use and the belt can snap leading to complete engine failure.
