It depends on what kind of Saab it is, but the principals are mainly the same. Just yesterday I changed the rear brake pads on my 2003 Saab 9-3 and it was really easy. Tap on the rotors with a hammer, after removing the tire and wheel and the brake assembly. The rotors will come loose. Slide the rotors off and reverse the process.

The size for a 2003 Saab front door speaker are 6.5 inches. There is room inside the door to allow for a larger speaker size.
Well, this is not really an answer, but a perspective. I recently paid over $1000 for new front pads, rotors, calipers and labor for an '85 900 Turbo. This was from an independent mechanic. So, $565 doesn't sound that far off for a 9-5.
