look for the wires, follow them to where they go on the engine. get a 5/8 spark plug wrench, turn to the left. installation is reverse of removal. be careful to make sure the you do not cross thread the new plugs. don't over tighten.

AnswerChange one plug at a time, when the engine is stone cold, so that way you don't hook up the wire on the plug, to change use spark plug socket loosen (be sure there's no debrie around the plug) if so blow it out there before taking the plug out. To install screw the plug in finger tight, be sure it goes in straight or you might cross thread and will give you more work, then with socket turn to tighten 1/4 turn (do overtighten you might strip the threads) AnswerFirst take the big metal plate covering the cams off and they will be under that the metal plate that i am talkin about says 2.4l they will be under that. AnswerThere are engine holders on the front of the motor- they look like dogbones, unhook these and pull the motor forward to reach the back plugs. Time consumming but gives more room to work. bratt

Is it a 2.4 or a 3.1? If it is a 3.1 the back plugs are difficult to get to, but they can be done without moving the engine (just now did mine) The best way is to follow the wires back and feel for the rubber boots. One boot is more towards the passenger side, and the other two are grouped together more towards the driver's side. You need to sort of pull and wiggle the boots at the same time to get them off (can't fit a boot tool back there). ONLY DO ONE AT A TIME!!! The plugs are pretty far into the engine so it helps to have an extension for your socket - usually a 3 inch, and you also need a 6 inch. My plugs were 5/8 inch - get a special spark plug socket so the plug wont fall out when you try to rethread them. There are some hoses in the way, so you have to be creative in how you fit the ratchet in. You will need to start the new plug by hand with the socket and 3 or 6 inch extension and turn until you are no longer able, and then use the ratchet to tighten. (you want to be sure you aren't threading it wrong). Tighten it a decent amount (15ftlbs or so) but DO NOT overdo it. Then simply slip the boot back on making sure the end of the sparkplug is firmly inside the boot (you can usually feel it sort of snap when it goes back in). Now repeat this same process for all six cylinders. Good luck! It is tedious and time consuming but doable.

I suggest taking it to a garage as it has an alumnium head and sometimes the plugs seize and are hard to get out,

Remove the spark plug wires. Turn the spark plugs to the left with a deep well 5/8 socket. The spark plugs will come out. Reverse the process with the new spark plugs.
