How do you change stater on 95 blazer?

disconnect battery, get under blazer on passenger side behind passenger side front wheel. look beside the oil pan in front of the transmission bell housing. the starter will be right there and you should be able to see the flywheel, it is big and thick and round with gear teeth on it. on the bottom side beside the oil pan you should see the starter which is bolted to the engine block. take the electrical wires off the starter solenoid one at a time and be sure to mark them somehow so you will remember where they go when you put the new starter on. there should be 2-3 bolts holding the starter on. the bolt heads will be on the bottom side going up into the block holding it on. loosen the bolts but don't take them completely out. when you get them all loose enought to where you can turn them with your hand, hold the starter and unscrew them the rest of the way out. before you completely remove the starter, check the area between the starter and the engine block to see if there are any shims in place. if there are shims in place, most likely they will need to go back on with the new starter. otherwise when you try to crank the engine, the starter will make a terrible noise. installing the new starter can be done with this same process, just in reverse order. REMEMBER, mark the wires so you can put them back in the right place. when you handle the wires, be careful not to pull a connection loose from another place, and handle the wires with care. some vehicles have what is called a fusible link coming off the starter. it is basically a fuse in the form of a wire. you can disrupt this fusible link by improper handling. also before resuming operation, make sure that there are no starter wires touching metal anywhere other than the connector. otherwise you could eventually rub a wire's insulation off causing a ground. then your battery will never stay charged due to the wire being grounded out, and it will probably be almost impossible to find later. happy wrench turning.
