You need a 17mm wrench. All you need to do is rotate the tensioner pulley near the alternator and slide the new belt on. It is quite simple. I have a 1994 jetta 2.0l which I have done lots of work on, too much to list.

There is a 13mm bolt on the arm holding the altornator up...

Loosen that bolt a bit...then use a long screwdriver or something else to push the altornator towards the engine.

Then keep it there while you fasten the bolt again.

Voila and done

Hi does anyone know why my peugeot 205 1.9 gti cuts out on cornering when i travel at a reasonably fast speed. I have changed the distributor leads plugs cap fuel pump relay. PLEASE HELP?

check the alternator cables for sercure fit check belt tension if that has not worked and i know this sounds daft cheak your coolant level there is a sender in the expansion tank that monitors the level of coolant and if its alittle low the g force around a corner causes it to slosh to one side and the swicth then cuts the power to the engine

What does a code of 1N 02 mean on a golf gti 1997?

It's just the service interval. oel = Oil + filter Change IN 01 = Oil + filter change with aditional checks IN 02 = Oil + filter change with aditional checks + air filter (also plugs if your using normal plugs ie about £10 a set) But if you use the platimum plugs £25-£30 these last for 5 years. In edition Every 40000 miles = timing belt Every 60000 miles = fuel filter

Why is your stearing hevey on your golf gti when you turn left or right?

Probably because your power steering belt is loose and when you turn, it slips and you get no power assistance. This can also be signalled by a screech at either end of your lock. Tighten the belt using the instructions I posted answering the question about how to do that.

Is a VW GTI the same as a VW Golf GTI?

Yes, it is a Golf but VW stopped calling it the "VW Golf... GTI". Just as VW didn't call the R32 a Golf (although it is based on the VW Golf and has the same shape and many common components).

Doesn't make sense. You can get an MK5 GTI golf. MK5 is the 5th generation of VK Golf. GTI is simply one of the models.
