Its not a complicated job if you are mechanically inclined, just extremely tedious.
I suggest getting a manual to guide you through the process:

You can also post questions to a civc owners forum:

good luck! I went to my mechanic and got a printout. Very difficult in this vehicle. Must take off the Power Steering unit... then go thru the wheel well to adjust the belts properly. Learned a lesson here. I started up... and the alternator belt was screaming. I gave up tightening it... and drove home. By the time I got there it stopped. It appears you should fully recharge the battery before you get it going. It was screaming because the alternator was working hard to put a charge back into the battery.
It appears simple, just a bit exhaustivel; it looks like the power steering pump has to be removed. I am going to attempt it, wish me luck. I will post my results.
REDAD THE INSTRUCTIONS
" without having to change anything " NO !
It is possible that the alternator caused damage to the PCM. Best to have diagnostics done on the car to see if and where the problems are.
What you need is an alternator wiring pigtail harness from the dealer!
You cannot charge a battery without a battery charger or having it charged by the alternator in your vehicle while it is running.
The starter could very well be the problem. You should have a mechanic to check the wires leading to the starter first to make sure they are not loose. It could also be the alternator or battery having a charging isue as well. Have a mechanic check the charging system as well.
I cant answer that because alternator tensioner fell off and I'm having trouble finding one.

3. Once you have four, you've got change.
You will need to go into your settings to change them. If you are having difficulties, it is best to let a mechanic do the work.
Put a voltmeter on the battery. If it reads 12 volts or less, the alternator is not charging. It should read 13 or 14 volts.Make surte your belt is not loose or broken also.
