Hold remote with buttons facing you , turn it so letter f on top there is a slot in middle, using small flat screw driver same size with slot carefully fry cover with buttons off toward you. The cover hard to come off but patience and gentle it will come off. Inside there is two CR 2016.

The best way to remove the cover to your remote depends on the type of remote you have. Alot of remote controls have AA battery at the back of the remote. You simply unhook latch and slip down the cover to insert the battery.
Remove small screw from near projecting key, pry sections apart, remove inner module to access battery.

remove screw from base of key with a very tiny screwdriver or take it to the dealership to have it done.
Remove the battery cables. Remove the battery tiedown. Remove the battery from the Aerostar. Reinstall in reverse order.
Disconnect the battery. It cannot blow without the battery. Same when putting it back. Make the electrical connections and install the airbag then reconnect the battery.
Remove rear seat and remove battery

It shouldn't harm your smart phone to remove and replace the battery. If you have to remove the battery to change the sim card, it is to be expected.
I had a problem too when I removed the battery from my Mentor's remote . Do the following ,sit inside the car , remove the remote battery , wait for 1 minute , replace the remote battery when doing so you will see that the remote light is on ! If the light is not on try again ! Now press and hold the lock button on the remote until you hesar the doors lock . Your remote is now programed .
