In my 99 wj jgc there is a tensioner and the manual for the 2000 also shows a tensioner. The I6 has a tensioner on the passenger side near the middle of the engine front. It is a idler on an internal spring mechanism with a mark on it that indicates tensioner life. The device is self adjusting and neds no maintenance unless broken -- it self indicates status. To move it place a 3/8 inch breaker bar in the square 3/8 inch slot and turn right to loosen to get the belt off .... not too hard..
