I just did my 2004 Solara... assuming it's the same, it's very easy. Step 1: take off glove box. (one screw near door to detach operational piston. squeese the dop to release two pins on either side of the box. pull in the direction to open until it comes off.) Step 2: pull out filter container. (push two release levers and pull out) Step 3: replace old filter with new filter. (be sure that the air flow direction is in the correct direction... from down to up. there should be an arrow on the filter.)
You don't. There is no cabin air filter on the Gen I Solara. The interior air filter appeared on the 2004 (gen II) and later Solara. Cheers
Sorry, there isn't a cabin filter on the Gen I Solara. The filter came with the Gen II (2004) and later models. Cheers
No. The Generation I Solara doesn't have a cabin air filter. There are filters (behind the glove box door) for the Gen II Solara (2004 and later). Cheers

Answer: You don't. Cabin air filters were introduced on the Solara in 2002. (According to local dealer.) If I am not mistaken, you access the cover by opening the hood and removing the A/C fresh air intake screen and reaching in the opening to unlatch a smaall access door.
