When you start the game it should ask you what difficulty you will be on. After u pick a profile and a level, it should say which difficulties there are. It say Easy, Normal, Heroic, or Legendary.
It will prompt you upon starting a new game. Also, after finishing "The Pit" training course in the first level "S.S.D.D." it will prompt you again as well as giving you a recommended difficulty.
The difficulty can only go downward once you start a game. The only way you can change the difficulty is dying a certain amount of times on one part. Once you die so many times the game will ask you to switch to an easier difficulty.
you start the mission, pause it and select "change difficulty"
When in-game, you are able to change difficulty. Press start, and scroll down the options to "select difficulty".
before you start a game go to options and adjust it
