on my 1997 Mazda 626, it's located on the left hand side bottom of the engine where the bottom radiator hose goes to the engine. hope this helps you.

open da hood. see the coolant resevoir? under that is the lower radiator hose. follow it to where it goes into the engine, and under that flange is the thermostat

the thermostat is on the lower radiator hose next to block. the thermostat is all one piece when you buy it at the store. it has 2 bolts.
follow the return hose at the top of radiator to the engine, the hose connects directly to the thermostat. when u get to the thermostat, u need a ratchet with a long extention. try not to drop bolts in engine

Follow the upper rad hose from the rad ot the engine and there is a housing with the thermostat inside. TAke the 2 bolts holding it on out and remove the thermostat. When replacing it make sure the spring is toward the engine. Mine had three nuts. Piece o cake to change-20 minutes. 1993 Beretta
