Option A : Remove engine Option B: Remove transmission Option C: Seek Professional Help Cost would be very expensive unless you have a private mechanic. My price 350 Dealer cost Possibly 1,000.00 or more Average Private Mechanic 250.00 - 500.00 I personally would remove the starter, transmission linkages, wires, cooling lines and driveshaft from rear end. Then i would remove all mounting bolts to trasnmission and then remove transmission mount and drop the transmission using a transmission jack. Slide the transmission back enough to get an impact wrench to remove the flywheel then put the impact on the lowest setting ( 1 ) to install the new flywheel. Then take a breaker bar or torque wrench and torgue the bolts down and then put eveything back the same way you removed it. And always remember to disconnect the battery before starting this procedure especially when removing starter. 1 bad spark and you could go blind, start a fire, or simply fry everything in the system. GOODLUCK!!
A small flywheel needs to stay with the starter that goes to it. You can use either flywheel, and the block should be drilled for either starter.
If the 4.6 liter is in a Ford Expedition it should be ( 6 quarts ) with engine oil filter change
Depends on the engine. Should be on the flywheel.
You'll need to either pull the transmission or the engine to be able to get to the flywheel. Once the flywheel is exposed, it's just a few bolts and it falls off in your hands. BTW, when you put the flywheel back on, I would strongly recommend using Locktite or equivalent to keep the bolts from working loose. A flywheel should always be resurfaced before putting it back, unless it's a new flywheel, in which case you should make sure to remove all of the protective oil.
This should be mounted with 2 bolts on the top edge of the gearbox next to the engine where part of the flywheel should be exposed I believe
Change the flywheel. The swingarm transaxle in the 1967 requires a 180mm flywheel; the independent rear suspension transaxle in the 1976 requires a 200mm flywheel. Then steal the cooling tin off the 76 engine, because it's way different. Other than that, it should go right in.
According to the 1999 Ford Expedition Owner Guide ( 5W-30 ) * with engine oil filter change , 6.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-30 engine oil
Batteries have no set time for replacement. They can last from 2 to 7 years. Change it at the first sign that it is weak or will not start the engine.
According to the 2007 Ford Expedition Owner Guide : With engine oil filter change : The 5.4 liter 3V engine takes ( 7.0 U.S. quarts / 6.6 liters of 5W-20 )
You should be able to use the same starter and wiring from the original engine if the flywheel has the same diameter. Changing to a different diameter flywheel would require you to change the nosepiece on the starter.
Drop the transmission and it should be 4 or 5 bolts holding the flywhewl on
the starter should be bolted to the transmission or to the back of the engine at the flywheel/flexplate.
