The biggest hurdle here is that the fuel pump is in the tank, so get as much fuel out of there as possible so it weighs as little as it can. Jack your car up, and slide under there, locate the bolts on the straps that hold the fuel tank in place, loosen them, but not all the way just yet, now disconnect the wiring to the fule pump/fuel level indicator, any ground wires there are, and the fill tube for the tank and the vacuum hoses and fuel lines located nearby( relieve fuel pressure if there is any before disconnecting the fuel lines ). Now support the tank on a floor jack and remove those strap bolts, once off lower the tank to the ground.
On top of the tank you will see the fuel pump mounting, it's all straight forward from there, unbolt that fuel pump and pull it out of the tank, replace with the new one and reverse the procedure.
I was told by the dealer that the 2002 Dodge Neon does not have a servicable fuel filter.
If you do not see it mounted between the fuel tank and the engine, then it is mounted in the fuel tank. Common on the Dodge Neon.
should be in the fuel tank
The gas tank on a 2002 Dodge Neon hold 12.5 gallons of fuel. The 2002 Dodge Neon is a fuel efficient car at 28 MPG city and 34 Highway. The car came as either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual.
Permanent filter located in the fuel tank.
You don't change it. It is a permanent filter in the fuel tank.
You can't. 95-96 were the only Neon's that came with fuel filters, after 97 Dodge stopped equiping external fuel filters
yes the dodge neon have fuel injection
dodge is known for fuel pick up issues. the fuel sender unit has low voltage. change that and fuel filter. nnot an easy fix . because both are in fuel tank.
The timing belt on a Dodge Neon should be replaced every 100,000 miles.
Dodge does not use inertia/reset switches. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
Nearly all of the parts on a 2001 Dodge neon are interchangeable with the 2002 Dodge neon. The models are almost identical.
