Remove the 4 valve cover bolts. Remove valve cover. Remove 4 intake runner bolts. Remove 2 bolts from intake manifold vacuum equalizer tube. Remove 4 exhaust nuts. Mark belt cog position with whiteout on cam gear and crank ear for re-installation purposes. Loosen timing tensioner belt and remove belt. Separate exhaust from head and studs. Remove 6 head bolts. Remove gasket and clean gasket mounting surfaces. Install is reverse of removal. Installing belt requires realigning previously mentioned marks. Other valve timing procedures are available for timing belt reinstalling Misalignment of crankshaft pulley to cam pulley can cause valves to bend when attempting to start engine.
