Not an easy job The whole heater box has to come out and be disassembled Is a six hour job at the dealer What's wrong with it? 1.Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. 2.Drain the cooling system. 3.On MPFI models remove the air cleaner housing cover and the air induction hose at the intake manifold. On TBI models remove the air cleaner housing. 4.Raise the vehicle and support it properly on jack stands. You can get at hose clamps from top but it is very difficult. 5.Loosen and move the heater hose clamps up the hose enough so the hoses can be removed from the heater core inlet and outlet tubes. 6.Lower the vehicle. 7.Working in the engine compartment, disconnect the heater hoses where they connect with the heater core at the firewall. 8.Remove the left and right lower trim panel extensions from the console by disconnecting the lower velcro fasteners and pulling out at the upper clip locations. 9.Remove the screws on the lower heater duct and slide the duct out the drivers side. 10.Disconnect the temperature control cable and the mode control cable at the heater case. 11.Disconnect the electrical connector on the drivers side mounted near the temperature control cable. 12.Remove the screws and remove the lower heater core cover. 13.Remove the screws and take off the heater core side cover. 14.Remove the screw and heater core pipe clamp. 15.Remove the screw and the lower heater core retainer from under the heater core. 16.Remove the heater core, being careful not to spill any coolant. 17.Reassemble the heater unit and check the operation of the control flaps. If any parts bind, correct the problem before installation. 18.Reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order. 19.Refill cooling system.
