Which intake gasket? There are two gaskets between the intake manifold and the heads, one sealing the manifold to each head, plus a couple front/rear gaskets that seal out the crankcase oil. To get to those gaskets you need to remove the intake manifold. That involves removing a lot of peripheral stuff that's mounted on the manifold.
Another gasket is between the manifold and the throttle body. That gasket is a lot easier, just remove the bolts holding down the throttle body, clean both surfaces and put the new gasket in place.
If the engine is idling fast, sometimes it's just the EGR valve gasket. That's just two bolts then clean the surfaces and replace the gasket.
replace intake manifold gaskets, if gaskets have been replaced and intake has been clean oil and plugs have been changed then your problem most likely would be the timing.timing the distibutor on a vortex engine sometimes can be tricky.
On the Vortex 5.3 it is located on drivers side, rear of engine, on top of engine, just behind intake manifold.
had the same problem. my son is a ASE master rated gm tech, he said the 4.3's are bad about blowing the intake gasket. i just did a 96 blazer, water in the oil . pulled the intake and a blown gasket was the problem. hope this helped, BJ
The thermostat is located on the engine of a 6.0 vortex 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The thermostat can be found by following the upper radiator hose directly to the thermostat.
how do u change spark plugs 2002 vortex
Take it off and put on a new one
no!
CHANGE TH E INTAKE MANIFOLD MAYBE EXHAUST YEARS VARY
No with much ease. The 95 engine is electronically controlled, and won't be compatible with a 1991 vehicle.
The knock sensors are located underneath the intake. There are actually two knock sensors one front (KS1) and one in rear (KS2).
The Vortex V8 5.3 has 480HP Owner of a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500ls Auto 4WD
That engine has 2 of them and you have to remove the intake manifold to even see are to get to them.
