The knock sensor (depending on engine) can reside either above the starter, or under the intake manifold.
5.7L and 7.4L knock sensors reside above the starter, passenger side of the engine. Exercise caution when removing them, as they're also blocking the water/coolant block drain on that side.
5.3L, 6.0L engines have two knock sensors under the intake manifold--so you'd need to remove the intake manifold to access them.
