You have to remove the entire light/license frame assembly from the rear of the trunk lid. Open the trunk lid and you will see the 6 nuts that need to be removed through the cutouts on the inner side. You will need a deep 10MM socket. When the nuts have been removed, carefully lower the trunk lid and pull the entire rear panel of the lid straight out. The tag lamp sockets twist to remove. Pull the burned out bulb(s) straight out. Replacement and reassembly is the reverse of the above. Hint: Buy the long life bulbs you see in the store or you will be dissassembling your trunk lid several times a year. My '02 LeSabre was eating bulbs until I finally got smart and bought the better ones.
