first of all you need to buy replacement oil filter and oil (take into account the grades of oil)
then once u have done that you need get either a rachet head (1/4'' 1/2'' or 3/4'') and under the the car and under the engine if u look you will see the oil sump and u will see the plug with with the rachet head inset u need to get a tray or bucket ready to catch the oil then u need to remove the sump plug and allow the oil to drain out (approx 1-2 hrs) but after 30-40 mins u need to locate the oil filter and remove that been carefull cause the oil in the filter still and allow to drain until the oil has stopped coming out then put the sump plug back in and with the new oil filter dip your finer into the old oil and spread around the rubber and around the thread on the new filter and once u have done that u need to put the oil filter back on been very careful not to cross thread it and once u have it back on u need to tighten it up tight to stop any leaks, and to be safe check the sump plug if that is in tight and once that is tight u then need to start pouring the oil in until u get to the manufactures specifications once u have put that in start the car and let it idle for a few mins n turn it off agen n check the oil level and add more if needed and repeat this process until it is at the specifyed level or just under full
5 quarts
last i heard, 15,000 severe, 30,000 normal.
It is important to maintain the fluids and fluid levels in a car. A 1987 Mitsubishi Montero takes about 5 quarts of oil when everything is being changed out.
you have to take off skid plate first to access oil drain plug, and to also get at oil filter. Make sure you dont drain transmission by mistake.
Recommends a 10-30 weight motor oil for its Montero sport model. A heavier weight oil can be used in extremely hot climates.
Either a leak or depending on how much u drive
crankshaft seals failure
No but you can make one from aluminum flashing or from aluminum duct.
My 1993 Montero 3.0L V6 is...1,2,3,4,5,6 and only holds 4.5 Qts of Oil. Crazy car builders.
Just did an oil change on one tonight. I work at Goodyear. It's located close to the front bumper almost right next to the radiator on the left side of the vehicle. You have to take the cover off to get to it and drain the oil. Just take the two 14mm bolts off to access it. Hope this helps.
The filter is somewhere underneath the skid plate in the front of the car...
A 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse uses standard 10w30 motor oil. This provides a good balance of protection for the engine components and viscosity.
