At the moment at least, I would say stick to taking it to a garage to have it done, as the vehicle will still be in warranty. It may affect any claims in the future if they see that the service book hasn't been stamped at the manufacturers recommended intervals. It doesn't have to go to a main Mini agent though, due to the Block Exemption ruling, but as long as another garage uses manufacturer approved parts.
Describe in detail how to change the oil in a 2005 mini cooper.
I use about 4.25 qt (about 4 L)
ye
Change the oil filter every time you change the oil.
It is disappointing that MINI/BMW does not reveal the capacities or recommended oil types (they list several different one but nothing is concrete) in their manuals. In fact they go out of their way to make it complicated. However I just finished changing the oil in the 2008 MINI (not S). It took 4 quarts without the oil filter change. This may be slightly greater for the Cooper S. The oil capacity for the Cooper and Cooper S is 4.6 quarts with the filter change (filter should be changed at EACH oil change). The sticker on my 2003 S recommends Castrol Syntec 5w30 but I have to buy Mobil 1 for my other cars and have started using it in the MINI, also.
very carfully
every 5000ks
My 1996 mini take 5 quarts with filter change
A 2006 Mini Cooper S requires 5.0 quarts of engine oil with a filter change. Also, the manufacturer recommends a good high performance synthetic oil, in a viscosity of 5W30 or 5W40.
The information is in the owners Manual.
I have a 2009 Mini Copper S and recently went to the dealer to see when I needed an oil change because Ive been told a million different things. They told me not until I reached 1600 miles. If yours is different there is an indicator right when you turn on the mini behind the wheel that will count down until you need a oil change. Once its ready you will have a picture of your mini that lights up.
If it is a CVT transmission then yes you can use cvt gearbox oil in a mini cooper.
