No special trick. But I do remember that I leave the wrench on the adjuster until I get the new belt installed. Good luck-the first time you do it will take a little time.
if this is the 3.1L v6 version, then there is a belt tensioner pulley on the left side of block.,,, ( looking from the passenger side of the car it is left side) Loosen bolt holding it on and it will release tension for it to turn and loosen the belt
On the passenger's side of the engine down low there is a tensioner. It is a pulley mounted to a spring loaded arm. On the arm of that tensioner, there is a square hole to insert a small breaker bar or a ratchet. Insert the tool and use it to lever the tensioner and release the tension.
To replace the sepentine belt you have to first find the tensioner. You should have a diagram under the hood, on top of the radiator that can tell you which one is the tensioner and how the belt suppose to be hooked up to the different pulleys. When you find the tensioner, you have to use either a rachet or a wrench to release the tension to pry the belt out. You can also go to autozone.com and get more info about this.
you have to put a socket wrench into the hole on the tensioner and pull up on it to release the tension from the belt.
rotate the tensioner clockwise to release the tension and remove the belt then slowly release the tensioner. route new belt over the various pulleys according to the diagram under the hood again rotating the tensioner as to allow belt to fit in place and then slowly release the tensioner again.
The alternator is sitting on a guide. It is held on it by a bolt. All you have to do is loosen that bolt and the belt pressure sould realese. Look around for a wheel that is touching the belt but appears to have no other purpose...this is the tensioner. Use a long handled wrench on the nut in the middle of the tensioner. there should be a diagram under the hood, in front of the radiator, that will show belt routing and show where the tensioner is...
1/2 inch breaker bar insert in the tensioner.
Refer to the manual to see the tool that you will use to release the tensioner on your Peugeot 206 1.9 HDI.
If it's the timing belt tensioner then you have to loosen the tensioner bolt and then use a 1/4 inch hex bit and turn the tensioner clock wise. Be sure to turn the tensioner only counter clockwise to retension and align the 2 pointers. The alternator or serpentine belt tensioner requires a 13 mm wrench to turn the tensioner counter clockwise to release the tension.
rotate the tensioner clockwisse to release belt tension. remove belt from the auxilarary components and slowly release tensioner. route the new belt over the various pulleys, again rotating tensioner to allow belt to be installed then release tensioner. These models have a drivebelt routing decal on radiator shroud to help during installation.
Note:The drivebelt routing decal on the radiator shroud to help during drivebelt install * To replace the belt rotate the tensioner pulley clockwise to release belt tension * Remove the belt from the auxiliary components and slowly release the tensioner * Route the new belt over the various pulleys again rotating the tensioner to allow the belt to be installed then release the belt tensioner
