Locate the spark plug wires running along the valve cover. Each plug wire terminates at a spark plug boot, which must be removed by firmly pulling up from the valve cover by it's base. Use a clean rag, shop towel, paper towel, or better yet, compressed air to remove any dirt or oil from the spark plug and it's surrounding area. This is to prevent contaminates from entering the cylinder when the spark plug is removed. Using a socket designed for spark plugs (contains a rubber insert for holding the plug in the socket), a 4 to 6 inch socket extension, and a ratchet, remove the spark plug by turning it counter-clockwise (righty-tighty, lefty loosy). Place the new plug into the socket, and gently start the threads by hand. CAREFUL! If excessive resistance while threading the plug is felt, STOP and carefully remove the plug. Center the plug perfectly above and parallel the plug hole, and try again. Crossthreading a plug will generally mean removing the cylinder head and taking it to a machine shop for repair! Once plug is properly threaded, tighten to specified torque value (found in repair manual), or just go with "good'n'tight". Repeat for each spark plug, and reinstall spark plug boots and wires.
