Unlike many vehicles where the solenoid is in the firewall, yours is right in front of your battery. It will be bolted to inside of the front, on the frame. You'll be able to follow the positive wire from the battery if you still can't find it.
Make sure you disconnect the negative battery cable before doing any work. For that matter, taking out the battery all together will make this one easier to get to.
Start marking all the wires to and from the solenoid and where they go. Do this before you disconnect anything. Putting any one of these wires back on the wrong terminal could be very dangerous, destructive, and just plain stupid. And could result in your death or the death of your vehicle. Oh, and safety glasses are always nice, just in case.

Ford Pickup Starter Solenoid LocationOn my 1989 and 1993 F-150s the starter solenoid is mounted on the right "inner" fender about 6 or 8 inches "aft" of the battery. I suspect yours is there also.

the solenoid on that year ford starter is on top of the starter itself. that starter is used on a wide variety of ford products.
On the drivers side on the bottom of the engine, it has a red wire going into it.

The starter solenoid is mounted directly to the starter.
About 300.00 and Ford will not cover it as they have not released a recall on this known issue.

The starter solenoid is physically mounted on top of the starter motor itself.
The 1992 Ford Taurus starter solenoid is bolted onto the side of the starter itself. The starter is at the rear of the engine at the bell housing.
