Hope this helps. On 1999 model beetle, with key on push and hold in hour and minute
buttons at same time this will change your temp from Celsius to Fahrenheit.
Switching display settingsIf your battery has run down, been disconnected, or replaced - your VW will reset itself to the default settings for the time and temperature. You will see the time displayed as military time where 6 PM will show as 18:00. You can set the clock to standard time (with the ignition OFF) by pressing both the H and M buttons. If you now turn the ignition switch to ON, you can press both the H and M button and the temperature will now display as Fahrenheit rather than celsius. JohnC.
About 190 to 210 degrees fahrenheit. Perhaps a tad higher.
I just asked this question, but someone helped me out, so here's the answer (I think): Turn your engine OFF, and then press the "hour" and "minute" buttons at the same time. [FYI, if you do this with the engine ON, the temperature reading switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius.]
There have been several instrux to this effect for 2000 Beetles, and it also works on 1999:If your battery has run down, been disconnected, or replaced - your VW will reset itself to the default settings for the time and temperature. You will see the time displayed as military time where 6 PM will show as 18:00. You can set the clock to standard time (with the ignition OFF) by pressing both the H and M buttons. If you now turn the ignition switch to ON, you can press both the H and M button and the temperature will now display as Fahrenheit rather than celsius.Update: this was just tested on a 1999 Beetle and it works.
An orange spring. Upper left side of gauge display.
Because the engine is probably too hot.
It is important to know the location of a car's parts. The 2003 Volkswagen New beetle air intake temperature sensor is built into the mass airflow sensor.Ê
Because your temperature sensor needs replacement. List price on the sensor is $25.
When your car is off, press both the hour and minute buttons at the same time. Hold them until the clock switches from 24 hour to 12 hour. By doing this with the engine off, you keep the temperature reading in Fahrenheit.
