You unbolt the housing that the upper radiator hose hooks to. Remove it and remove the thermostat underneath. Clean off any old gasket, install new thermostat and gasket. Install housing. Fill coolant, warm engine and check for leaks.

If it's an easily accessible location it is simple to change, it can just get messy if you have a full cooling system.
