You need to obtain a replacement unit or compatible from an appliance service dealer. Then it's just a matter of disassembling the control panel and disconnecting the old switch, removing it, and replacing and reconnecting the new unit. If you're wonder how to disassemble the control panel to accomplish this the process is very common sense oriented. At most all you'll need is a 5\16th nut driver or socket, a Philips head screwdriver, and a pair of needle nose pliers. JUST MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE YOU START.

Can you change a dryer from 120 volts to 240 volts It came wired as 120 volts but we do have an outlet for 240 volts Was hoping to speed up dry times and save some?

If the dryer is a clothes dryer then the short answer no. If it is a hair dryer then there might be a voltage switch on the handle that allows you to change voltages. If the manufacturer of the clothes dryer specified that it can be operated on dual voltages then it is just a matter of changing a few terminal connections. Check the instruction manual to see what it states there. This is very unlikely though. In North America all clothes dryers need 120/240 volts to operate. The 120 volts is used for the timer relays and for the drum motor, the 240 volts for the heating elements in the dryer. By changing to a higher voltage, it will not speed up the speed up the drying time. It is more likely that if you plug the dryer into the 240 volt receptacle it will burn the 120 volt motor out.

Can I put an electric shower on a timer switch?

Most timer swiches are designed to operate with loads of up to 13 amps or 3 kW. Electric showers use around 8 kW (30-35 amps), so you would need a high-current timer.

Can you wire in a range outlet and plug in a dryer with the same plug configuration?

== == A dryer outlet is only safe to use for one purpose: to power a dryer.Obviously you can attempt to use it for something else, such as an electric range, but it is NOT SAFE to do it!You could drive on the wrong side of the road but it is NOT SAFE to do it!You could put your hand into a fire but it is NOT SAFE to do it!In general the reasons for saying it is not safe to use something other than a dryer on a dryer outlet are all about being sure that the circuit you will use for the other appliance (in this case an electric range) has: * the right size of wires to carry the current the appliance takes and* the right size of breakers on the main supply panel to protect the appliance - and the wiring to it - from catching fire if there is ever a malfunction. Electric ranges are quite different to dryers: people are likely to be "in close attendance" to them all the time they are on! You have to be sure you wire them up correctly and safely to avoid there being any kind of risk of anyone getting electrocuted. You also have to be sure that the supply circuit used is of the right kind to protect the house from a house fire. That can happen if there is a malfunction in the range but the circuit breakers on the main supply panel - or the wiring feeding it - are the wrong size. The circuit breakers on the main supply panel - and the wiring feeding the outlet for the range - must all be properly sized and correctly and safely installed. == == For more information please see the Related Questions shown below. As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed. Before you do any work yourself,on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances, always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.

Why is a timer is used in an electrical circuit?

Timer relays are used in control circuitry. There are two main types, an (off delay) and an (on delay). If you want one device to turn off before the timer controlled device then you would use an off delay timer. If you want one device to turn on before the timer controlled device then you would use an on delay timer. When the timer is energized this starts the timer circuit in the relay to time out.

How do you wire a timer switch to a 3 way light switch?

First you need to decide what you are trying to accomplish. You can wire the Timer switch in series with or parallel to the 3-way switches. If in series then the 3-way switch function would depend on the timer state. If the Timer switch was ON then the 3-way switch could turn the connected device ON or OFF from either location. If the Timer switch were OFF the device would be OFF no matter what you did with 3-way switches. To wire in this fashion put the timer between the supply and the input to the switches. If the Timer is in parallel then if the Timer is ON it doesn't matter what you do with the 3-way switch, the device will be ON as long as the Timer is ON. If the Timer is OFF then the 3-way switches will work in their normal fashion. To wire in parallel connect the supply to one side of the Timer and the device to the other.

Do they make a dryer that shuts it self off when the cloths are dry?

Just about all dryers have auto sensing drying. The dryer will detect how much moisture is in the clothes. Once all moisture is removed from clothes the dryer shuts off by itself. The timer is not needed when using Auto Dry!

Clothes dryer takes too long to dry clothes?

* Dryer duct is clogged. * Vent screen is clogged. * Heater element is burned open. * Thermal switch is covered with lint. * Thermal switch does not close. * Air is humid. * Dryer outlet air not ducted away from the dryer. * Too many clothes. * "Air Dry" cycle selected. * Timer assembly broken, or no connection to allow the heater element to operate. * "A watched pot never boils", maybe you are impatient. * clothes lines are "green" technology.

How do I set tumble dry low in the drying machine?

The settings on a dryer differ by manufacturer. A coin operated dryer has a slide or dial to turn the dryer to a lower temperature. A digital dryer has buttons to push to change the temperature settings. Many dryers just have a dial to turn to select the temperature or timer settings.

Roper Elec Dryer RED4440VQ1 dryer will not turn on or heat up. Fuse is good. power outlet is good.?

Check the timer, with it set to a run position 110volts ac should be on the light blue wire tied to term "B" of timer. Mine had a broken plastic part inside the timer that prevented the contacts from closing.
