* TOOLS REQUIRED * J-43651 Water Pump Sprocket Holding Tool REMOVAL
# Disconnect negative battery cable. # Remove air inlet tube and air cleaner assembly. Refer to "Air Cleaner Assembly Removal". # Drain coolant.
# Remove exhaust manifold heat shield. IMPORTANT: Twist water feed pipe while pulling to remove it from water pump.
# Remove thermostat and water feed assembly bolts.
# Remove water pump sprocket access plate from front cover.
# Install J-43651 water pump sprocket holding tool. IMPORTANT: Be sure to remove retaining bolt that is accessed from front of engine block.
# Remove water pump retaining bolts. # Remove water pump assembly. INSTALLATION
NOTICE: Prior to installing the water pump read the entire procedure. Pay special attention to avoid part damage and to ensure proper sealing.
# Install water pump assembly. # Install water pump bolts. Initially finger tighten bolts * Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
# Install the water feed tube. # Lubricate the feed tube O-ring with silicone gel lubricant. # Install water feed tube by twisting and pushing toward water pump. Take care not to tear or damage the O-ring. # Install thermostat housing to block bolts. * Torque: 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
# Install exhaust manifold heat shield.
# Install air cleaner assembly and air inlet tube. Refer to "Air Cleaner Assembly Installation". # Connect negative battery cable. # Add coolant.

You can change the water pump on your 2000 Mercedes E3 20 by first removing the water pump belt. Next remove the water lines. Remove the bolts that hold the water pump in place. The water pump will pull outward and can be removed. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.
do not attempt this yourself im a licenced Saturn technician,the water pump is inthe timing cover which is no big deal but you will never time the engine without the proper tools,its quite in depth.
