Put a pan under one corner of the transmission pan. With bolts loosened, remove the pan bolts at the pan corner and back the rest partially out so that the corner is low and the fluid drains into the catch pan. Take the pan loose and remove it. Take the filter out and replace it. Take the old gasket off and put a new one on. Bolt the pan back on and refill the transmission with new fluid.
Yes it could. If you put power steering fluid in the transmission you need to change the transmission fluid.
you change the manual transmission fluid in a '99 cavalier simply by removing the transmission drain plug and allowing all the fluid to drain then replace the plug and refill with Syncromesh transmission fluid(that is the fluid recommended by Chevy for use in your transmission) It should take 2 quarts.
Sportage has a drain plug on the bottom of the pan. which will drain most of the fluid out.
remove pan, change filter, reinstall pan, fill fluid.
NO. The bellhousing is different on the 96 model. Won't work.

It is on the valve body inside of the transmission. Remove the transmission pan and you will see it.
transmission fluid almost always goes in the dipstick tube
