You have to drain old fluid, when the liquid is still warn but not hot (be careful working around hot parts). After that you have remove the transmission pan, there is a little bit of liquid left on it all the time, thus pay some attention to what you are doing. When the pan is removed you will see the Transmission Fluid filter. You have to change it too. After that put everything back and tighten bolts. when you are done with the bolts you have to refill the system with new fluid (Dextron II or III, I believe). Be extreamely carefully doing that because if you drive with the overfilled system you will damage it and yourself in so much of trouble.
To change the transmission fluid, you first drain the old fluid by removing the large bolt to the left hand side of the transmission, after it is drained you may place the bolt back on. Add the new fluid under the hood of the car, where you check the transmission fluid at.
Camry 1997-2001 uses the same fluid for transmission as well as power steering.
Check the transmission fluid level, if it's not enough add more fluid.
Dexron lll or lV or equivalent.

Remove the transmission plug on the bottom of the transmission. The transmission fluid will drain out of the unplugged whole.
The transmission fluid should be change every 30,000 miles

Being surprised my 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara (same as Tracker) had a drain plug for the transmission. I just change the fluid, not the filter or gasket.
For Camry 1999-2001 (4 cylinder) the same transmission fluid is used to for both transmission and power steering. Some vehicles use power steering fluid Some trans fluid.
