Take it to a professional. You have neither the tools nor the knowledge to does this properly. You also have a leak that needs fixing, or you wouldn't need to add refrigerant in the first place. This vehicle may have R12 or may have R134. If it has R12, I would convert it to R134a. R12 is very expensive.
