Depends AC or DC

CORRECTION!!! GEEZE!!! AUTOMOTIVE IS DC!!!

This isn't exactly an easy job but it is an easy method,,, you simply hook up an amp meter in series with your voltage source and your load. If you are looking to install an amp meter permanently follow the meters instructions, if you are doing diagnostic work ther are highend meters such as those made by Fluke that you can clamp onto the insulated positive battery cable that will read the current flow, you will need to follow the instructins that come with the meter for these as there are some variations.

BE ADVISED AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT CAN DRAW A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF CURRENT! DO NOT USE A MULTI-METER THAT IS LIMITED TO 20 AMPS!!! Whilesome stuff is much lower in demand, many things in a car or truck can draw thirty amps and more... this can destroy a meter designed for a maximum of 20 amps.

ALSO the average automotive battery, is rated in COLD CRANKING AMPS, and this is not a true figure of how much amperage it can produce when fully charged at 65 degrees and above, at these temperatures these batteries can source more than two or three times its cold rating... THIS IS MORE THAN A LETHAL AMOUNT!

How many amps does an arc welder draw?

Always check the nameplate on the device. It will have the serial no., how many hertz it operates at, the voltage, and amperage. Their are different types, so the amperage will differ as well.

Can you use 600 volt 14 ga wire on an electric dryer?

The maximum amperage that can be applied to a #14 wire is 15 amps. The 600 volts is just an insulation rating. Check the nameplate on the dryer to see what the amperage and voltage the manufacturer recommends. If the nameplate just states a wattage use the following formula to find the amperage. Amps = Watts/ Volts.

How many watts does a washing machine consume in an hour?

The same as it consumes in a second, or in a minute. Please note that a watt is a unit of power, not a unit of energy. Power means energy per time unit.To get the details, you can check the electrical specifications on your washing machine. Most such electrical devices have a metal plate with the electrical specifications written on it - perhaps on the device's back.

How an amperage reading would be taken using a clamp-on?

Simply "clamp-on" the clamp of the amp meter to any electrical conductor supplying the equipment that you wish to check while it is in operation. It is better to use your clamp-on with each individual conductor one at a time.

How do you power up amp in 2002 dodge grand caravan?

If the battery is dead you will need a battery charger. If the battery is good and you have low amperage then you will need another alternator. Most parts stores will check it for you. If you are looking for MORE amperage then you would have to buy a larger amperage alternator.
