Toyota T-IV type automatic transmission fluid as stated in the owners manual. Mobile 1 makes a compatible fluid: Mobile ATF 3309 Do not use any fluid that does not meet T-IV requirements.

A 4 cyl automatic must use Mercron LV sold at Ford dealership. You should not have to add fluid, unless you have a leak. Then you should take it to the dealer anyway. No transmission fluid require changing on the Escape model. LV stands for low viscosity.
