Different vehicles have different rear hub fluid checking/filling system. Normally you have a bolt, you undo the bolt for checking the fluid level, if necessary replenish the level. Newaz.
Check the ABS Dump Valve. If not operating, little or no fluid to rear brakes.
If the rear window washer isn't squirting, check the fluid container. If there is fluid, the motor may be shot.
Through the check plug hole in the rear of the cover.
You can use any SAE certified rear differential fluid in your 1970 Chevrolet. The 1970 Chevrolet differential fluid can be checked from the differential fluid check port.
I would take it to an authorized Chevy dealer to check it out.

there in a plug towards the front by the drive line on the rear end,remove the plug if rear end fluid comes out it topped off.if no fluid (rear end) comes out put fluid in it till it starts to drizzle out.reinstall fluid..if the rear end has not had a service or it smells burnt or is black replace gasket clean rear end with brakekleen and top off fluid...
In relation to the washer fluid, check if the fluid tube is not twisted or blocked in anyway.
The rear wheel has a different hub; the gears attach to it. Alternatively the rear hub has gears or a brake or a dynamo built into it. The front hub will sometimes have a dynamo built into it, other than that it is just a plain hub.
