You will need a fuel pressure guage and it connects to the fuel line at the fire wall behind the d/s head. Proper fuel pressure is 60 - 66 psi. Need to check Fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse. Also need to check fuel pump pressure. Is there fuel in the tank, Gauge may be lieing to you.
no the vortec is computerize and that runs the fuel pump At a greater pressure than be atained by a mechanicle fuel pump.
It is in the throttle body.
Check the pressure regulator, fuel filter and fuel pump.
On the 4.3 vortec: to check for a leaking system, Remove plastic vortec cover, Then remove the round black thingy on the top and look in with a flashlight. It SHOULD be dry. If it is wet, you got a leak. Could be fuel pressure regulator (passenger side) or fuel line (driver side).

Low fuel pressure, bad IAC valve, vacuum leak, bad injector(s). You also need to check the EGR valve.
It is located in the throttle body.
It is located under the upper intake manifold. It is connected to the bank of fuel injectors (poppets) bank.
