How do you check the oil in a American iron horse slammer there is no dipstick or sight glass?

Underneath the seat in the top of the oil tank is the access. There is no dip stick. Do not fill to the top of the threaded opening leave 2 inches or your oil will overflow thru ther breathers when running. At $11.00 per qt. who wants oil on the ground!
