You don't because it's a sealed unit, you will have to take it to a shop
There's no dipstick on a Sunfire that new. You need to add fluid at the transaxle itself. There's a plug in the side of the transaxle that needs to be removed to check or fill the fluid.
To change the transmission fluid on your Chevy Malibu 2005, first, pull off the pan, drain the fluid, and replace it.
6.8 quarts.
To check the transmission fluid for a 2005 Malibu 3.5, the first step is to block the wheels so the car will not move. Start the car and put the car in neutral, then open the hood and locate the transmission dip stick. Pull out the dip stick, wipe off with a paper towel and insert it back into to tube. Take it out again and note where the fluid level is. If it is on add, add one quart at a time of the proper transmission fluid until the dipstick level is at full.
There is a plug with a red plastic cap on the top of the transmission. Pull this out and you will see a dip stick. Use the dip stick measurements to determine if you need more fluid or not.
There should be two dipsticks under the hood on a Malibu. One will be plainly marked "OIL" or "ENGINE OIL." The other one is your transmission fluid. This is assuming your Malibu has automatic transmission. If your Malibu has a manual transmission (stick shift), then there is no dipstick for transmission fluid -- manual trannies get lubrication from the engine oil.

I was looking at the 2005 Ford Freestar owners manual and it shows for the automatic transaxle ( 13.7 quarts ) That of course would include the lines and the cooler along with the converter and transaxle
