pull the dipstick out it is located near the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle the tranny must be warm and most of the time in park or netrual.
According to the 1999 Ford E-350 Owner Guide ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) is used as the power steering fluid

I'm assuming you mean a Ford F-350, which you fill through the dipstick tube.
Look at the level in the brake fluid reservoir.
Check the fluid level for transmission fluid. Check it at operating temp in PARK to get an accurate reading.
Dexron 3 is prefered.

350 Engines dont have transmission fluid. The Transmission does. Start the engine, leave the trans in Park, pull the dipstick and look at it. fill to full mark when the engine is fully warned up
You should never add transmission fluid to a Chevrolet 350 engine. You can add transmission fluid to the transmission through the transmission dipstick holder.
