Some early model Sunfires have a dipstick.
In my '96, the dipstick is located near the firewall, down and inboard from the brake fluid reservoir.
Yes, special order.
With, or without a Jaws Of Life tool?
Not without some major modifications, and I do mean major.
No, it is illegal to remove the converter. The car will also not run correctly without the converter in place.
On my 1998 E320, the factory manufactured the transmission without a dipstick. It was assumed it wouldn't need one. I bought one from the dealer and then serviced my transmission with dealer fluid, filter, seals, etc.
You can't but your dealer can.
You check the transmission dipstick level but u might have purchased it without the dipstick n it might just have acap like my wifes did def go to a Chrysler dealer ship and get the dipstick sould have 2 levels a marker on the lower half and the higher half
under the hood, and the end of the engine without a belt Actually your vehicle does not have a transmission. It has what they call a "Transaxle". Most front wheel drive cars have this when a front differential is not present. If "under your hood" didn't help you and you still can't find it out, jack up the front of the vehicle (chocks behind the rear wheels of course!)and while it's running simply apply the brake and put it in drive. The wheel that spins of it's own volition is the tire that is connected to the "transmission". Also you can follow the dipstick down the the transaxle itself, but that would be too easy.
You can remove the linkage from the shifter to the transmission and manually shift transmission.
I called a local garage and was directed by the service man. The transmission dipstick is located in back of the oil fill cap. It is covered with a lever that must be lifted up to remove the dipstick. Mine is a rusty tube where the dipstick is found. I would not have found it without the service man's direction.
Assuming its the 2.2L Automatic without a dipstick; you'll find a red cap on the driver's side of the engine bay between the air box and the cylinder head. Its a ways down but it is there. Make sure you know how much to put in cause too much is just as bad as not enough. It'll take Dexron/Mercon III Automatic Transmission Fluid.
